Reading through this list made my day. Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss!!
It’s officially the end of January! One month later and I’m already struggling to keep a few of my New Year’s Resolutions (gym 4x/week, in bed before midnight, the list goes on…)
Queen drummer Roger Taylor is on a quest to assemble a coverband named “Queen Extravaganza” in celebration of Queen’s 40th Anniversary. Auditions have been less than memorable with the exception of this guy, Marc Martel. Check out his audition and cover of Bohemian Rhapsody. #awesome
#trust30 Day 4: Post-It Question by Jenny Blake
Identify one of your biggest challenges at the moment (ie I don’t feel passionate about my work) and turn it into a question (ie How can I do work I’m passionate about?) Write it on a post-it and put it up on your bathroom mirror or the back of your front door. After 48-hours, journal what answers came up for you and be sure to evaluate them.

In the literal sense, what am I missing? Do I have my phone, keys, wallet, etc. In the figurative sense, what am I missing? What void exists that is currently not being satisfied? What did I have that I lost?
Sometimes I feel completely fulfilled in every sense - work, life, love, friends, family. Then there are moments where there’s an aching something. There are days where I think about old friends who I haven’t connected with in a while. I’ll miss them along with things like my piano or acappella group. I’ll miss music, writing, photography - activities that allowed me to come home to myself.
#trust30 Day 5 - Travel by Chris Guillebeau
Not everyone wants to travel the world, but most people can identify at least one place in the world they’d like to visit before they die. Where is that place for you, and what will you do to make sure you get there?
With a last name like Scordato, it’s almost a crime that I’ve yet to go to Italy. I fantasize about drowning in its history, noshing on the freshest burrata and dried meats, and visiting my great-grandparent’s hometown of Barre.
Other destinations on my “Travel to” list include:
Santorini, Greece
Machu Picchu, Peru
Rio De Janeiro, Brazil
Bangkok, Thailand
#trust30 Day 3 - One Strong Belief, by Buster Benson
The world is powered by passionate people, powerful ideas, and fearless action. What’s one strong belief you possess that isn’t shared by your closest friends or family? What inspires this belief, and what have you done to actively live it?
————————————
We mask our emotions and self-select our attitudes and behaviors based on the environments we’re in. We’re taught shame and guilt at a young age and learn of insecurity by the time we’ve hit puberty. In our professional lives we’re instructed to devalue emotion, to treat business as something that’s not personal, simply a transaction or “just a job”.
Then there’s me. I am notorious for laughing out loud. When I’m sad or uncomfortable, it shows on my face. Every single one of my bosses has seen me cry. I can be fiercely intense, stricken with vulnerability, confident, and uncertain, all in a day’s work.
Regardless of the state I’m in, I live my life unafraid. My biggest fear is the day I find myself unable to express myself, void of emotion.
LIfe is too short to live it as a masquerade. Expose yourself.
I’m participating in the Domino Project’s #trust30 initiative to celebrate Ralph Waldo Emerson’s Self-Reliance. As part of this challenge I’ll respond to daily writing prompts that relate to the Self-Reliance theme of trusting you gut and paving your own way.
Since I’m a couple of days behind, here’s my response to the first prompt:
Day 1. 15 Minutes to Live, by Gwen Bell
You just discovered you have fifteen minutes to live.
1. Set a timer for fifteen minutes.
2. Write the story that has to be written.
————————-
I’m not going to write a good-bye letter or talk about the phone calls I’d make to those I love and are leaving behind. In the last 15 minutes, I’d take a deep breath and reflect on my short, but event-filled 25 years.
I’d think about my accomplishments - none of the accolades, straight A’s, or professional wins. Instead, I’d mark my life a victorious one because of the love I have in it and the wonderful collection of people who have come and gone and come and stayed.
I would close my eyes and picture my parents and brother. I would wish that I left the world a little bit better by doing my part - sticking up for the little guy, pursuing my passions, and following the golden rule.
I would spend my last 15 minutes liberated and inspired… A life with love and without regret.
